Join PGNY
The Printmakers Guild of NY is a growing, grassroots community established for artists, by artists, founded just a few years ago in 2024. We’re funded exclusively by small community grants, donations, and membership dues. We connect in person and online to share resources, discuss technical approaches and challenges, and provide a welcoming and supportive space for printmakers at all experience levels.
Who can join? Although our activities remain rooted in New York state, we do welcome members from any location who want to connect with our activities and community. PGNY is open to printmakers at any stage of their creative career. We welcome fine artists, master printers, educators, students, community-based artists, print organizations, printmaking equipment or paper producers, and everyone in-between we forgot to name!
PGNY is a small operation run on volunteer power and a passion for print! As an artist-led community, our version of membership might look and feel different than a non-profit arts setting (we are not a non-profit). For example: we don’t yet have the resources to develop a web portal for members; when you sign up, we will literally add you to our spreadsheet as a member like it’s 1996. :)
Your membership dues support our growth. We aim to strike a balance between live and online opportunities to foster connection with real people who happen to be scattered across New York, and beyond. We really want to see your artwork in action and support artists through shared community.

PGNY publishes a monthly e-newsletter of New York based printmaking news. Members are eligible to submit news & announcements for inclusion; write an Artist Spotlight that highlights a fellow artist-member; share photos of your artwork, print process, or artist studio; and share info on print jobs, calls for art, printmaking equipment for sale and more. The newsletter is free and available to the public to read and enjoy.
PGNY Gallery & Community Print Space (Troy, NY)
The PGNY Gallery & Print Space is located in the Troy Atrium, 49 4th Street, in downtown Troy, NY. This dual-purpose headquarters serves to introduce printmaking to the public through programming and workshops for all ages, while also connecting our membership to a growing audience in our gallery. We’re open to the public on Saturdays during Troy’s Indoor Winter Farmer’s Market (November-April), from 9:00 am-2:00 pm; by appointment for working studio time; or during scheduled programming.
Members may apply to sell their work in the gallery, with PGNY retaining a 20% commission. Members may also reserve the workspace for independent studio time; guest-teach a workshop; or propose and organize other print-specific activities.
Members are eligible to reserve studio time at the space to produce their own work. We can currently accommodate relief techniques (monoprint, collagraph, woodcut / linocut, gelli plate) or intaglio techniques (drypoint on plexi or copper). Shop equipment includes:
- Takach 18 x 36 etching press with 4.5 in. upper drum
- A3 Pooki Press (11.5″ x 16″)
- Two large 4′ x 8′ worktables
- Glass inking stations with relief and intaglio inks, tarlatan, speedball brayers
- Paper soaking trays (16″ x 20″)
- Newsprint, gloves, and low / non-toxic cleanup supplies
- Woodcarving tools and honing block, linocut carving tools, and variety of hand tools are available for shop use
We’ll continue to add resources based on member needs and interest, as we can afford to do so. (Please note: our facility is a low / non-toxic space, and we limit use of traditional chemicals such as alcohol and mineral spirits.)
We do not have lithography, silkscreen, letterpress, or chemical etching capabilities at this time.
Online Artist-Gatherings
We offer regularly scheduled online Artist Gatherings where printmakers can talk shop, share news, ask each other for technical advice, and connect from a distance. With a simple structure, but not an agenda, these sessions are a great way to expand your network, make friends and find professional support. These will be held quarterly in 2026, and are typically held on a weeknight on Zoom, from 6:30-8pm.
Annual Event
Each year we offer one BIG event like a Member’s Exhibition or Print Fair. In 2026, PGNY will produce an exhibition at the Arts Center for the Capital Region in Troy, NY. (Our next print fair will be in 2027). Since we’re founded and based in New York’s Capital Region, our in-person activities have been centered in this part of New York, but we’re exploring ways to bring activities to other areas in future years to engage members in other regions.
- Application / submission fees for our events are waived for PGNY members
- Members enjoy a reduced Table Fee for the PGNY Print Fair.
