Bio: As an artist I am drawn to experimentation and process. Printmaking, both on paper and fabric allow me to work with intuition and spontaneity, As a teacher I encourage my students to embrace this same freedom to explore.

Having studied Design, leaning towards fiber arts, I later became fascinated with printmaking. My current work mixes medias that include printmaking, surface design, collage and photography.

I am owner of Ragged Edge Printmaking Studio in Cohoes, and a member of the Oakroom Artists. I have shown my work regionally, and have taught at many venues including Snow Farm; The New England Craft Program, Saratoga Arts, Athens Cultural Center, The Arts Center of the Capital District.

Artist Statement: As a printmaker who primarily works with monotype, I am influenced by the physical process of manipulating ink on the plate, and layering to achieve depth and complexity with color and vibrating energy. While varying greatly, each series encompass my love of intuitively and spontaneously exploring technique, materials and most important, color. While building a series, I constantly shift back and forth between pieces, allowing them to grow as they feed off the remnants of the other works in progress.

This series, Origami Monotype, began with the simple exploration of using and re-using a sheet of folded and re-folded paper as a mask. Multiple passes through the press built rich color, while the inky folded sheet transferred subtle color and line to the shapes it defined within the color field. Dancing pops of color were achieved with punched paper circles scattered during the printing process.
