Bio: Edgar Hartley is a polymathic printmaker and artist born in Lubbock, Texas in 1963. He
received his BA from the University of Kansas in 1986 and continued his Masters’ studies
in Nanjing, China. He has exhibited in the US and abroad including the HOLLAR Gallery
in Prague and has been collected by the Contemporary Museum in Baltimore, Visual
AIDS, and various private collectors. His printmaking practice employs a polymathic
method, encompassing various techniques that include etching, lithography, and
photogravure, as well as paper lithography, collagraphy, linoleum relief printing and
silkscreen, frequently combined in one print. He is currently pursuing his master’s
degree at SUNY New Paltz. His work is heavily influenced by queer politics and
Vajrayana Buddhist teachings. In his post-meditation time, Edgar is also a poet and
podcaster, living and working within all his auspicious phenomena in New York State.
