Bio: Melissa Mandel is a New York based artist who derives much of her inspiration from the riotous diversity of the flora and fauna of the natural world and her own overactive imagination. 

Melissa has a BFA in printmaking from SUNY New Paltz. Her work has been featured on websites, album art, tee-shirts, books and other printed media. She has shown work throughout the U.S. and the U.K.

Artist Statement: In her artwork she examines the relationship between humans and nature, a complicated symbiosis that is often at odds with each others best interests. She invents bizarre and sometimes unsettling creatures with jewel-like colors, fabricating a zoo of alien life.
